MCPHERSON MG4.0XP BEARCLAW SITKA SPRUCE COCOBOLO (SOLD)
This McPherson 4.0XP comes in premium bearclaw sitka spruce and cocobolo. Many feel that a bearclaw top adds to stiffness which gives a guitar the potential for a stronger sound. The bearclaw top pairs very well aesthetically with cocobolo which comes in striking brown-red hues and black streaks.
Cocobolo is heavier than most rosewoods and its density gives it a bright, clear and sustaining voice. cocobolo provides for a well-balanced tone with plenty of power, sustain and volume. It also gives a guitar long-standing harmonics and an articulate and complex low end.
Like all McPherson guitars, the guitar comes with a proprietary offset sound hole and a cantilevered neck which enhances the tone of the guitar by allowing the top of the guitar to vibrate freely. Within the sound hole, a series of braces are designed to arch just under the guitar top wood with minimal contact, allowing tonal vibrations to be maximized while providing for structural strength.
This consigned guitar looks as though it has never left its hardcase and is like new. The 4" body depth gives it plenty of volume and headroom when unplugged and the guitar reproduces an exceptionally rich and balanced tone when plugged in, thanks to on-board LR Baggs electronics which have been specially tweaked for McPherson guitars. This guitar has been underplayed and will only sound significantly better in time as it matures.
