GOODALL GC ITALIAN SPRUCE HONDURAN ROSEWOOD (SOLD)
This Goodall guitar is built with a mastergrade Italian spruce top and Honduran rosewood back and sides. The tone is crisp, clear and rich in overtones akin to a good Brazilian rosewood guitar but only at a fraction of the price. This guitar is a visual treat and comes with a rosette crafted with some of the nicest abalone we have ever seen.
Alpine/Italian spruce is the same species of wood as German spruce but it comes from a different region with slightly different attributes. It is a bit warmer in color and is often said to be more focused with a slightly stronger fundamental tone when compared to German spruce.
Honduran rosewood on the other hand, is denser than Indian rosewood and often compares well to Brazilian Rosewood. It is thus not surprising that many great Spanish makers during the 50’s and 60’s considered it to be the only acceptable substitute to Brazilian Rosewood as it consistently produces a well-balanced sounding guitar with great projection and strong lows and highs. Good Honduran rosewood however, has grown increasingly difficult to obtain.
This consigned guitar is well cared for by its owner and is in pretty much brand new condition.
