CHARIS SJ MASTER CEDAR MAPLE (SOLD)
We were inspired to curate two cedar Charis guitars after playing a lovely cedar maple parlor that passed through the store earlier. This cedar build is paired with highly flamed maple back and sides to add articulation and clarity to a sweet and big cedar tone.
Red cedar is much more responsive than any spruce tops and has the benefit of lush overtones and a full bottom end. Cedar tops require a significantly shorter break-in period than spruce tops, giving them a big voice even when newly commission.
Maple on the otherhand, tends to be more acoustically transparent than other tonewoods. They allow tonal characteristics of the top wood to be heard without coloration, resulting in great clarity of tone.
This is easily our most aesthetically pleasing guitar in the house. We love its broad tonal spectrum and articulation. Priced considerably lower than its counterparts, this guitar is in our opinion, one of the most value for money Charis Acoustics in our collection right now.

Charis' unique "Doves in flight" fingerboard inlays comprises of nine doves etched intricately with mother of pearl. Stainless steel frets and flame koa purfling stretches across the entire ebony fingerboard.
Triple ring rosette decorated with cocobolo and mother of pearl separated by black and white lines.
Ebony bridged polished to a shine etched with a pair of doves in mother of pearl. A bone saddle provides for additional tonal richness and sustain.
Fully quartered old-growth maple back and sides with highly flamed koa backstrip running down the center adorned with highly flamed koa binding.
