MARTIN MARQUIS OM-28 CUSTOM ADIRONDACK INDIAN ROSEWOOD (SOLD)

The OM-28 Marquis was inspired by Martin’s Golden Era (1930-1940) guitars. Built with premium Adirondack spruce top and braces plus other period correct appointments, they are the closest one can get to a Golden Era tone and build without the hefty pricetag of a Authentic Series Martin today. Discontinued in 2015, the OM-28 Marquis has seen its value appreciating steadily over the years and remains one of the most collectible Martin guitars today.

Crafted to evoke the same powerful tone and sonorous projection as a pre-WWII OM-28, the Martin OM-28 Marquis differs only by using the much less scarce Indian rosewood instead of Brazilian rosewood. Using only premium-grade solid Indian rosewood for the back and sides and a solid Adirondack spruce top, this guitar delivers powerful tones with its scalloped Adirondack spruce braces and forward-shifted X-bracing. A final coat of special aging toner completes the guitar by giving the wood a vintage countenance.

The solid Adirondack spruce top pairs with the east Indian rosewood back and sides to deliver a pre-war sound unlike any other. This guitar has exceptional volume and headroom while delivering the warmth and punch of a classic rosewood orchestra model (OM) but with more complex overtones than your standard Martin OM.

The Martin OM-28 Marquis is easily one of our favorite acoustics from the Martin family given its tonal and value preposition. They consistently sound significantly better than most new Martin guitars in the market and the gorgeous sunburst finish on this particular piece makes it exceptionally rare. This guitar has been lovingly owned by its previous owner and is as good as new. Its tone has aged very well and the guitar comes fitted with an award winning LR Baggs Anthem pickup for a stageworthy experience.
